VOODOO

Voodoo is a very ancient religion practised by 50 million people in the world. Other religions as the Macumba or the Santeria, seem very much to it. Voodoo is divided into several tendencies. It comes from the word "vodu" that is the translation of spirit in Africa.

Voodoo is located at the crossing of the Catholicism and african religions and has been brought to the Caribbean by the slaves.

Little by little, the adepts of voodoo incorporated a good part of the catholic liturgy in their rites.And so, the voodoo temples have covered with candles and the catholic saints are regarded as gods.

In voodoo religion, women are equal to men and can be priestesses.

The recognized benefit priestess, Mambo Miriam, is officiating in voodoo temples and wants to open the dialog with the other religions.
She tries to explain that voodoo is too often associated to wrong ideas, false interpretations and fictious interpretions.Unfortunately, in the common mind, this religion is too often linked with black magic, dark bokors and zombies.

In her opinion, voodoo is a religion as the other ones which vehicules good values: respect, help, support, fate...

As for each religion, there is a white and a dark face. Voodoo is not responsible for the diverted practises performed by some adepts.
