MYTHS, MAGIC AND REALITY

Many cultures left us mysterious symbols as shadows of their myths.

With the paddle of humanity, the myth was the expression of the absolute truth because it told a crowned history based at the beginning of the times.

Primitive men held myths as true because they felt closely mingled to them.

They justified each of their decisions by a myth and wanted to repeat the acts from the Gods or the Heroes, using words when they cannot repeat their glorious acts. These repetitions became human rites.

Alone, myths are bloodless, without force. It is only when they are told, sung and practised regularly -i.e.when they become rites- that the links between the various worlds can be preserved.

The repetition and the ritual reconstitution of the events coming from the beginning of the times were essential for the safeguarding of the clans and communities which generated the different civilizations.

Myths symbolize the products of human culture which are Reality, Time, Space, Life and Death. Religious and magic structures survived through and thanks to the different myths.

Myths and their survival are not specific to the homo sapiens and his descent, the man of today.

Men of Neandertal who buried already their deads, took care to bind the knees against the chest of the deads. Is it a symbolic return to the foetal position which governs reincarnation or is it a rite intended to prevent any revival of the deads?

Myths are stories which answer to the fundamental questions of men.

They reflect our endless search for guiding our life, a search where theoretical understanding is always relegated to the second level.
