FRENCH IMPALED

June 26, 2015 - Vlad Tepes, well-named Vlad III Basarab (1430/35 - 1476), Prince of Wallachia, is well known for having inspired the mythical character of the vampire Dracula. He was given the nickname Vlad the Impaler because for terrorizing his Ottoman attackers, he was used to torture the war prisoners with the impaled. The victims were shown off around his castle and on the borders as a terrible warning to the invaders.

The impaled was an horrible torture. It was entered a long stake into the prisoner’s anus who with the weight of his body pierced himself, tearing his internal organs little by little and dying in an horrible suffering. At the time, it was better to be killed than captured by the troops of Vlad the Impaler

Also, in all primitive civilizations of all continents, the heads of enemies were used to be put on pikes as a warning.
